Why join

What is Hotshots Matchplay?

Red Ball Hotshots Matchplay poster: Mondays, 4:30–5:30 pm at Aintree Tennis Club; learn rules, understand scoring and play a match.

Red Level Matchplay

A friendly introduction to playing matches on a mini court with a softer, slower red ball. The smaller playing area helps players practise starting a point, keeping a rally going and learning simple scoring. With coaches on hand, children can build coordination, confidence and good sportsmanship while enjoying their first match experiences.

Orange Ball Hotshots Matchplay poster: Tuesday, 4:30–5:30 pm at Aintree Tennis Club; learn rules, scoring and how to play a match.

Orange Level Matchplay

Orange ball matchplay uses a larger, three-quarter court and a ball that is quicker than red but slower than a standard yellow ball. Players practise serving, returning, keeping score and moving into position across more court space. Friendly matches help develop rally consistency, shot placement and decision-making while building confidence and independence.

Green Ball Hotshots Matchplay poster: Wednesdays, 4:30–5:30 pm at Aintree Tennis Club.

Green Level Matchplay

Green ball matchplay takes the game onto a full-size court, using a lower-compression ball that is slower than a standard yellow ball. The extra court space encourages players to develop movement, rally depth and point construction. Match experience helps players practise tactics, make decisions under pressure and build confidence in full-court tennis.

Red, Orange, Green & Yellow Hotshots Matchplay

Red, Orange and Green Matchplay give players the chance to put lesson skills into practice, learn rules and scoring, and enjoy friendly competition. Red uses a mini court, Orange moves to a three-quarter court, and Green uses a full court. Each stage combines an appropriate ball and court size to support skill development and match confidence. Yellow ball players can also take part. Bookings are made in the iClassPro app under the level your child is currently in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What equipment do I need?

You don't need anything to start. You can borrow one of our racquets for the duration of the lesson. We do recommend wearing runners and a hat and bringing a drink bottle. On a very sunny day, sunglasses are also a great idea.

What level is my child?

We will use the free trial group lesson to check your child's standard and suggest some class times that are best suited.

What if I miss a class?

Send us a text prior to the lesson, or mark yourself absent in the iClassPro app, and we will arrange a time to catch it up with a makeup lesson.

What if it rains?

We have no indoor facilities, so if it is raining, over 35 degrees or really windy we will cancel the lesson and send you a link to book a makeup lesson.

Are there classes for teens?

Yes. Teenagers usually start at Green level on the full court and can level up to Yellow ball once they have more experience.

When are the classes on?
Classes run all year, including the school holidays. The only closure is the Christmas break, 20 December to 12 January. To view available class times please view the class schedule.
